Rae was really involved in her Lutheran church as a young person while living in Pennsylvania. She moved to Florida right before her 4th child was born. Fortunately, her husband was able to meet his newest daughter before being deployed. They had been in Hawaii and Maryland prior to moving here. Within a year she had convinced her parent to move to Florida. It was at that time she started looking for a Lutheran church. Rae and her family, 3 girls and 1 boy as well as her husband and parents, arrived at Crossroad on Christmas Eve. She was greeted and made to feel welcome immediately. They had been to other churches, but this church welcomed their family with open arms. After leaving her home church in PA and moving around as a military family, they had never found a church that felt like home until attending Crossroad. When she was juggling 3 young children during a church service, others stepped up to help her and took her under their wing.
Rae is happy to have a church where her kids can grow in their Christian faith, and she enjoys the fellowship with fellow members. The family enjoys the church’s contemporary music and like how the Bible is presented in a way that applies God’s word into modern day living. To quote Rae, “Crossroad is a welcoming church where God loves all, and you can come as you are”. Her kids are five years older now and she is in her 2nd year of nursing school and will be a teacher’s assistant at her younger children’s Oak Leaf school. Rae and her husband support Crossroad with their financial contributions but also their physical involvement such as assisting with vacation bible school this summer and are looking forward to Crossroad’s future endeavors in the community and within the congregation.
