Zane remembers his dad reading bible stories to him when he was around
4 years old and had a basic understanding that there is a God, but at age 8,
he and his brother were taken away from his parents to live with his
grandparents. He was very angry with what he was going through. Several
years later, he convinced his grandparents to take him to church because he
knew he needed something “more” in his life and Crossroad happened to be
the closest church to their house. His grandparents only attended that first
time, but because Zane really liked the band and energy at this church he
continued going to church by himself. Although he was broken inside, he
was shown loving concern for his spiritual growth and began to feel he had a
support system here.
Crossroad became a family for him with many people encouraging and
mentoring him, from giving him rides to and from confirmation classes,
youth group events, and camps. His faith has grown through having fun here,
and learning what God has in store for him. When asked for advice from
friends and colleagues, he tells them that reacting in the wrong way under
adversity can tarnish your heart. Having Jesus in his life, has provided a more
peaceful and fulfilling existence. Pray unceasingly is his daily mantra: he
prays on the way to work, during his work day, and on his way home.
Zane now has a full-time job, is going to night school, has a wonderful
fiancé, and manages to assist at service every Sunday on the church sound
board. He also does maintenance around the church when needed. He
would tell you that he would not be who and where he is today without the
people God put in his life. Zane is thankful to Crossroad Lutheran’s many
members for helping him throughout his teens and young adult life. He is
grateful to all those who supported our youth group financially and gratefully
gives his time, talents and financial support back to God’s work through
Crossroad. Thanks be to God!
